Mykonos

We docked in Mykonos in the wee hours of the morning and, after breakfast we joined Dave and Barb to catch the shuttle bus (7 euros ) from the cruise dock to the edge of town. Mikonos is a beautiful island hamlet with narrow cobblestone streets snaking between the whitewashed buildings. The town boasts 365 cathedrals, of various sizes, and a resident Pelican. We ventured up through the town to some 16th century windmills and managed to get lost on the way back down to the shopping area. Fortunately, hte future cruise consutant from the ship found us and, like a pied piper, led a group of us back down to the main part of town.
Luckily, we were the only large ship in town (a Windstar Clipper ship was anchored out) so the town wasn't too crowded. The water in the Aegean Sea, even in the harbor was crystal clear like a well maintained swimming pool! We stopped for lunch of Calimari and greek salad at a small, off-the-beaten path restauraunt 'Maria's. Food was great and we were visited by a litter of kittens and their parents. Both PEggy and Barb dropped tehm food from our lunch table which the quickly devoured. I fiure the population of cats in Mikonos AT LEAST equas the human population. I took hte opportunity to wade in the water on the way back to the shuttle, just to say I did.

Tonight we will go to MUTS (Movie under the stars) after a 'light' dinner. Tomorrow, we are off to Katakolon, hte port for Olympia.
